What is Blueprint Communities?
Blueprint Communities helps community leaders plan for and carry out effective and comprehensive community revitalization efforts by:
  • fostering strong local leadership
  • focusing on planning and goal-setting strategies
  • building local program capacity to sustain community growth

Mission of the Blueprint Communities Program
The mission of the Blueprint Communities initiative is to serve as a catalyst to revitalize older communities and neighborhoods.
 
Benefits for Participating Communities
  • Community training led by highly regarded professional trainers, including materials, meals and lodging…valued at $15,000.
  • A community profile – a demographic and planning report that includes key indicators and trends.
  • Funding opportunities and strengthened relationships and communication between local leaders and funding source representatives.
Promotes Community Involvement
Everyone involved in helping to make communities better should have a stake in the Blueprint Communities initiative:
  • community planners & developers
  • service providers
  • member bankers
  • leaders in local government
  • religious & civic leaders
  • community-based organizations
  • housing providers
  • community & economic development practitioners
 
Community Revitalization Training

Teams that complete Blueprint Communities training will have developed a:

  • vision
  • draft community plan
  • clear action strategy (including a funding strategy)
  • process to measure outcomes
  • list of next steps/timeline to move the process forward
Community Team
Each team will comprise of eight community representatives, including at least one from an FHLBank member financial institution, and the local governing entity.
 
Community Selection
FHLBank Pittsburgh, aided by program partners and an advisory group, select communities to participate.
